As the oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe, MEISSEN has played a decisive role in the design of table settings and tableware on the continent since its founding in 1710. Its extensive repertoire of table services testifies to the manufactory’s impact over the ages, starting with the rich table decorations of the Baroque period and the floral table service designs of the Biedermeier period all the way to the sleek elegance of modern white dishware.
In “Table and dining culture at Meissen”, the manufactory invites you to Café Meissen for an exclusive dinner dedicated to the various styles and manners of dining. The starting point is the elaborately laid table in the style of Augustus the Strong. Its wealth of figures and thematic embellishments serving as conversation topics for the guests at the time. Throughout the course of the evening, three specially created courses will be served, each focusing on an historic tableware from the manufactory’s rich past.
