Meissen porcelain and exceptional wines grown in the hills of the Elbe Valley in Saxony are deeply intertwined with the region’s traditions and have shaped the cultural landscape, which was significantly influenced by Augustus II the Strong more than 300 years ago. MEISSEN continues to uphold this tradition to this day. At Café MEISSEN®, visitors can sample excellent wines from the region à la carte or as part of one of our special culinary events. The nearby historic city centre of Meissen, with its Baroque architecture, including the cathedral and the Albrechtsburg – the oldest palace in Germany – hosts a variety of cultural events throughout the year and is also home to a number of restaurants, bars and wine shops, all within walking distance of the House of MEISSEN®. Albrechtsburg combined tickets
The Albrechtsburg palace in Meissen is the birthplace of the first European porcelain and, until 1864, was the Meissen porcelain manufactory’s only production site. In honour of this shared heritage, the Meissen manufactory offers a combined ticket that allows you to visit both the manufactory and the Albrechtsburg palace. The combined ticket is valid for three days, allowing you to take in all of the sights and the Baroque architecture of the historic city centre of Meissen at your own pace, as well as the surrounding Elbe Valley, which is home to numerous wineries and rustic taverns. During the Saxon school holidays, families have the opportunity to go on a specially family-oriented quest for “The Secret of White Gold” every Tuesday and Wednesday. You can find more information on this tour here. Groups of 15 or more have the option of booking a private tour with a licensed tour guide. For EUR 22 per person, the package includes entry and a tour of the Meissen manufactory, the Albrechtsburg castle, and a guided tour of the city over the course of three hours.

Combined tickets “Taking the Steamboat on the Search for White Gold”
From May to October, visitors to the House of MEISSEN® have the opportunity to travel from Dresden to Meissen or from Meissen to the idyllic Elbe Valley villages of Diesbar and Seusslitz and back by boat. From the decks of the historic paddle steamer, guests can enjoy unforgettable views of the Albrechtsburg castle and the cathedral in Meissen, the hills of the Saxon Wine Route, and the world famous Baroque architecture of Dresden’s historic city centre. Tickets are available at all of the Saxon Steamship Company’s ticket offices as well as at the House of MEISSEN®.
