CREATIVE WORKSHOP WITH MEISSEN
Have you ever attended a Creative Workshop at Meissen? If so, this latest experience will crown your productive glory: it involves you single-handedly casting and modelling your own customised porcelain decanter at the very heart of the Manufactory’s production premises under professional guidance. Model an angel figure with tea light on our hobby course.
You will be engaged in removing the various parts of the angel from their moulds and joining them together with liquid porcelain paste, a substance known as “slip”. You will then be free to decorate your angel any way you like - your creativity shall know no bounds. From the raw material of porcelain paste to a finished piece of one’s own design, Meissen’s creative workshops give up to 12 participants the opportunity to discover porcelain as a creative medium and gain hands-on experience with fundamental techniques. Like to give a special and very personal present for Christmas this year? Then why not come to Meissen and model a winter figurine as a tea-light holder under professional guidance! You can use a special knife to cut out intricate perforations and fashion an angel or Christmas tree out of crude porcelain paste in whatever way you would like. Your creativity need know no bounds.
Casting Workshop
Besides luting on flowers and letters or moulding and modelling individual features, craft skills that you may already have become acquainted with at the creative workshop for vase shaping, you will now learn how to pour liquid porcelain paste into genuine moulds as well as independently attaching the handle to your decanter.
As well as advancing your creative abilities, you will again have a piece uniquely produced by yourself to enjoy after this workshop.

Under the tutelage of Meissen’s expert artisans, participants create their own porcelain pieces in the manufactory’s workshop, dabbling in everything from forming and moulding individual elements, affixing handles, and adding decorative paint flourishes such as flowers and leaves.
Once the work is complete, the pieces are handed over to the in-house experts for the final production steps: glazing and firing. Once fired, the finished items are sent to each workshop participant by post.

Should you have any porcelain paste left over once you’ve produced your unique item, you could use it to make distinctive Christmas-tree decorations such as little stars etc. that will give you joy at home.
